HZR September Sack Attack Scrimmage

This is an afternoon / early evening friendly scrimmage. We will have one field open and matches will be run in tournamnet style. A schedule will be set-up to maximize playing times for visiting teams. Field will be open starting at 4:00 and closing at 7:00. Teams are welcome to start to arrive at 3:00 to work on robots. This is a friendly event to provide teams to evaluate progress of thier robots, and experience at the Sack Atack game. Teams will be encouraged to demonstrate good sportsmanship.

HZR Stampede

The HZR Satmpede will be held at Hereford Middle School in northern Baltimore county. Hereford Zone Robotics consists of students from Hereford high school, Hereford middle school, and Gunpowder elementary school. The HZR Stampede is open to middle and high school teams and community organizations. 'The Hereford Zone' is located in northern baltimore county and surrounds the I-83 corridor, making it convenient for teams in Maryland, Virginia, central and south eastern Pennsylvania. Teams considering entering this competition are asked to contact Chris Putnam or Michael Doddo, to express interest.

Our competition is open, cheap, and freewheeling. This is "Robotics for the rest of us." The fully-autonomous robots have a maximum size of 20x15cm. We call our class of robots "Small Autonomous Robotic Competition Vehicles," which use inexpensive, generic parts. Our vehicles feature open circuits constructed by each student on a breadboard, where the soon-to-be science and engineering majors can learn the principals of electronics, mechanical design, and programming. Any brand of microcontroller is fine, same with optical, tactile, and ultra-sonic sensors -- the cheaper the better. Each student builds his or her own vehicle (at most a team of 2), and each must learn and master the common programming language BASIC. Our simple and fun competitions are tests of each student's programming skills and strategic reasoning. Winners receive cash prizes! Tournament fees in our league are simple... drive to the host school, the host school provides the post-match barbeque.
