Event Description

The Small Manufacturers' Institute and West Hills College are proud to sponsor the Central California VEX League (CCVL). The league concept is being piloted by VEX for the 2011-2012 season in a small number of locations around the nation. The CCVL is pleased to be one of the select few.

Any nationally registered middle or high school team is eligible to become a member of the Central California Vex League--up to the scheduled capacity: 32 teams. No organization may register more than four teams in the league.

League Play

League play is based on this season’s VEX game—Gateway--with a few modifications.

CCVL has five scheduled event dates: 11/05/2011, 12/10/2011, 1/28/2012; 2/25/2012 and 3/03/2012. The first four dates will be devoted mainly to Qualifying Sessions, involving computer-generated match lists for two team alliances. The final day of league play (March 3, 2012) will be devoted to the CCVL Tournament.

VEX game rules say that “Qualifying sessions in League Play ONLY refer to the league rankings.” The results of CCVL qualifying sessions will be entered into the Tournament Management software to determine the ranking of each league team. League rankings will be based upon a win/loss percentage of a minimum of ranking matches played. CCVL teams will be required to participate in three of the four scheduled qualifying session events.

To be eligible to participate in the March 3rd league playoff tournament, league teams must commit to participating in three of the four Qualifying Sessions, including the fourth, on February 25, 2012. At the close of the February 25th Qualifying Session, the League’s top-ranked team will be recognized as the CCV League Champion and presented the League’s Excellence Award. In addition, alliances will be selected for the League’s Championship Tournament scheduled for March 3, 2012.

The league will be guaranteed to qualify at least two of its top teams for the World Championship (the two team winning alliance at the League Tournament to conclude the season).

In addition, the Excellence Award will go to the league’s # 1 ranked team. In cases where the # 1 ranked team is not on the winning alliance, all three of these teams will be invited to the VRC World Championship and other post-season invitational events including the US National Championship.
