Type of Event: Tournament

Event Description

This is a non-qualifying VEX scrimmage.

On the 3rd Saturday of every month, until January 2011, there will be a practice VEX Round Up Competition held at UT Tyler. Prior to and during the competition the robotics team will mentor the teams attending the practice session.

These sessions will also consist of short informational discussions designed to inform the students important elements about robotics, some key systems and some specifics about VEX Robotics competitions.

A typical Saturday will be from 10:00AM-3:00PM. A pizza lunch and soda will be provided here by a local vendor for $6.00 per person to be paid upon arrival at the scrimmage. You may bring a sack lunch for your team members if you prefer. Each school will be responsible for the transportation of their students from their school to UT Tyler and back again.

These practice sessions are designed to assist the student teams to be better prepared to compete in an actual competition. These sessions afford them the opportunity to get some time on a playing field with their robot, numerous times, in a competition atmosphere, before the qualifying competition.

FORGE & FULFILL is a program designed to fill young minds with robotics through hands on learning, practice, and sportsmanship. The students will learn among other things some engineering, robotics, and computer programming.

Some teams that start will have no experience. This program can help these students learn what robotics is all about. The Robotics Team at UT Tyler is here to guide and mentor them.

Other teams may already have some robotics experience. We have designed this program to be of much benefit to these advanced students as well.

FORGE & FULFILL is designed to benefit all experience and grade levels.

The FORGE & FULFILL Enrichment Program is designed to offer no or low cost mentoring and practice sessions to Elementary, Middle, Junior High, and High Schools.

The reason we say no OR low cost is because there may be some costs incurred by the school. Such as travel to and from UT Tyler.

The Robotics Team at UT Tyler invites the following to join the program:

1) Schools that have no robotics program at this time
2) Schools that have non-VEX robotics programs already in place
3) Schools with VEX robotics programs already in place

Please use the contact information if you would like additional information on how to get involved with VEX Robotics.
